about
The year is 2007 and after an amazing year I left my first barista gig, working for one of Melbourne's top ten coffee roasters. I found myself, with no more access to great coffee without spending a small fortune on having it shipped. Going to cafes to buy retail coffee was hit and miss - they would run out of retail bags or the coffee was getting old or they only had half kilo bags when I only needed 250gm.
I stumbled across an article in BeanScene Magazine that mentioned a specialty coffee roaster by the name of Bailey Coffee. I had never heard of them but the cafe they were supplying coffee to had earned itself a strong reputation for great coffee so I figured the roasters must know their craft.
I got in touch and Joshua was happy to deliver a small amount of fresh roasted coffee at a reasonable price, right into my esky on my doorstep, each week.
The coffees were sublime and my days of foraging were behind me.
Friends who came over to sip flat whites and long blacks were blown away by how good the coffees were, and wanted to buy coffee for themselves. Joshua of course was more than willing to oblige, and the coffee order each week swelled.
It seemed like good logic to share the great coffees roasted by the Bailey Coffee outfit with folk who walk in different circles and Esky Coffee was born.
We finalise orders by Sundays, coffee is roasted meticulously by the Bailey crew on Mondays and Tuesdays, and sent out for delivery on Wednesdays.
Esky Coffee is about sharing great coffee. It's about supporting humble talent. It's for coffee tragics and nerds with their shimmering setups, 3pm espresso, and latte art pics. It's for folk who haven't got a grinder at home but brew a faithful french press each morning. It's for those who only have time to brew fresh coffee on weekends.
Esky Coffee is keeping it simple, honest and easy for good folk to drink proper coffee at work and at home.
Please, please feel free to get in touch anytime to chat coffee, to find out pricing on larger orders, or anything else!
